WOOSTER -- From an early age, Mary Ann Winkowski knew she wasn't like other children.

Instead of playing with dolls or going to dance class, Winkowski started attending funerals with her grandmother, not to pay her respects to the dearly departed, but instead communicate with them.

The Cleveland native, who spent 20 years living in Wooster, is a nationally-known paranormal investigator who says she talks to the dead as if they were alive and helps them to "cross over" into what the living know as the "White Light."

Winkowski said everyone who dies attends their own funeral.

If a spirit decides to not go into the White Light when he or she passes away, she said all they have to do is "stick around and go to a funeral, be-bop into the White Light and find where they need to go."
