Betusile Mcinga was born in Willowvale and raised in Umtata in the Eastern Cape by Award Winning Gospel Artist Lusanda Mcinga.
Gospel dynamo firmly rooted in Eastern Cape
GOSPEL singer Lusanda Mcinga is one of those rare gems who can turn any song she sings into a gold or platinum seller.
Born in Willowvale (kuGatyana) but now based in Mthatha, Mcinga's music has touched many hearts in a peculiar way.
The gospel dynamo's music career began in 1995.
She recorded independently until she was wooed to the Gallo stable, where she continued to soar.
Her big break at Gallo came in 1998, when she recorded Ungababek'ityala. The album won Mcinga her first gold disc.
When many musicians where moving to Johannesburg for greener pastures, Mcinga remained in Eastern Cape.
We spoke to her recently.
What do you like about the Eastern Cape?
The first black president, Nelson Mandela, comes from this province. Secondly, this is one of our biggest tourist attractions because of the diverse cultures.
Which are your favourite restaurants in Mthatha and why?
My favourite restaurants in Mthatha are Spur and Ayakhula.
